First, we want to let everyone know that the FN / Konig Countersteer Type X flow formed wheels are back in stock in 16×8″ +0mm offset 6×139.7. We have the following versions available to order now:
These are really sweet, light weight (19.5lbs per wheel approximately), super strong (flow formed construction with 2,100lbs+ load rating) wheels.
We’re currently running the 16×8″ +0mm offset Countersteer Type X Flow Formed in matte black with LT285/75R16 Toyo Open Country AT III tires on our 2014 FJ Cruiser. The light weight 16×8″ Countersteer Type X really helps to neutralize the increase in weight added by the heavy duty Toyo tires.

Up next for this update is some news about another fitment coming soon for the Countersteer Type X. This all-new version will feature a 17″ diameter, 9″ rim width and aggressive -25mm offset (4″ backspacing) along with a robust 2,500lbs load rating (tested to SAE J2530 standard). The wheel weight is projected to be only 24lbs per wheel thanks to meticulous design, engineering and testing along with an advanced flow form manufacturing technique using only the highest purity 6061 T6 aluminum alloy available.
We teased this wheel on Instagram a few weeks ago and received excellent feedback.
Surprisingly (to us), quite a few 2007-2021 Tundra owners sent us messages indicating that they’re looking for aggressive rim width and offset combinations.
Initially we intended to offer this wheel in the 6×139.7mm bolt pattern only, but after considering all of our customers’ input we went back to the drawing board and got to work on a 5×150 option. This wheel will look awesome on 2007-2021 Tundras with fiberglass fenders, custom bedsides, and/or fender flares.
We’ll post more updates about the new 17×9″ Countersteer Type X flow formed as we progress through the manufacturing process. We expect the wheels to be ready to ship in early 2024.
Lastly for this update, please note that all orders placed after 4:00PM Pacific on Friday October 13, 2023 will ship on or after Monday October, 23 2023. We’ve spent the better part of 18 months perfecting new versions of our 17″ Five Stars and Six Shooters to fit the latest Toyota Landcruisers, Sequoias, Tundras, and Lexus LX’s, and we’re excited to announce that these wheels are in-stock now!
The new FN Wheels Five Star and Six Shooter wheels feature a robust load rating of 2,500lbs+ per wheel with a maximum tire diameter of 37″ as tested to the stringent SAE J-2530 standard all the while maintaining a relatively light wheel weight. This feat has been made possible by the use of high purity, A356-T6 aluminum alloy, an advanced flow form manufacturing technique, reinforced rim flanges/lips, extensive R&D including finite element analysis and rigorous physical testing. No sacrifices or compromises were made when it came to ensuring the strength of these wheels.
We took into consideration that many of our customers use their vehicles for offroading, camping and overlanding. Lots of our customers are enthusiasts who will add bed racks, roof top tents, steel bumpers, and gear to their rigs. Moreover some of our customers will also choose to install 37″ diameter tires on their vehicles. Accessories add weight to the vehicle, which also increases the stress and load that the wheels are required to bear. Larger tire diameters also contribute more stress and load onto the rim. We designed, engineered and tested the new Five Star and Six Shooter wheels to meet all of these demands and load requirements for the latest full size Toyota trucks and SUVs. We then verified the load ratings by subjecting the wheels to the industry’s strictest testing standard – SAE J2530.
Furthermore, it is noteworthy that our wheels were specifically designed for maximum brake clearance. Over the course of development of the new Five Stars and Six Shooters we also took the time to research what our competitors were offering in 17″ for the new full size Toyota trucks. We found that that many aftermarket wheel manufacturers offer their 17″ wheels with offsets that are too low for the new Sequoia and Tundra in order to achieve the necessary brake clearance, or they offer 17″ wheels which cannot be dynamically balanced due to the position of the wheel weights relative to the wheel’s drop center and/or barrel shape. Our new 17″ Five Stars and Six Shooters provide excellent brake clearance and an offset which has been tailored to fit all vehicles built on the Landcruiser 200 / 2nd generation Sequoia/Tundra and 3rd generation Sequoia / Tundra platforms. We developed a special high clearance / high strength barrel design to fit over the large OEM brakes that come standard on these vehicles. We recommend that your installer uses any of the commonly available, low profile, stick-on wheel weights in 5 gram or .25 oz segments to balance your new wheels. Both the 17″ Five Star and the 17″ Six Shooter have ample barrel clearance to be dynamically (dual plane) balanced without any brake caliper interference so long as low profile weights are used to balance the wheels.
All of the new wheels are hub centric for the intended applications. This means that the diameter of the wheels center bore (the hole in the center of the wheel) will be a snug fit on your vehicle’s hub. Additionally, all of the wheels have been manufactured with 16.2mm stud holes to accept extended thread (aka “ET”) lug nuts. This is an important feature as well, since Toyota trucks and SUVs have short wheel studs, particularly on the front hubs of 4WD models. The ability to use extended thread lug nuts allows for maximum thread engagement on the short wheel studs. ET lugs coupled with a hub centric design will provide a true fit and a ride that is free of harmonic vibrations.
As a bonus, we incorporated another feature into the new Five Stars and Six Shooters : knurled bead seats. The addition of knurled bead seats helps to enhance bead retention at low psi, and the knurls also help to prevent the bead from slipping from high torque applications.
We are confident that you will not find safer, better fitting or higher quality 17″ wheels for your full size Toyota truck or SUV.

Thank you all for your patience while we work through the current supply chain delays that have plagued us for the last year.
We have good news : many models of our wheels are back in stock (including the always popular FN FX Pro in 17×8″). We will be updating individual product pages at https://www.fnwheels.com/store/ with current inventory over the next few days.
We also have models / sizes / colors / offsets that are not listed on our website, but which are back in stock or should be back in stock soon. We will post a separate update at https://www.fnwheels.com/shop-news/ with this information very soon. The best way to order those wheels will be to call us at (951)735-1100 while work on updating the online store.
Due to continued delays from our ancillary vendors (FedEx, USPS, trucking companies and packaging suppliers), plus unprecedented demand for our wheels our current processing and handling lead times are 7-10 business days for in-stock products. This processing and handling time is necessary for us so that we can continue to perform a final inspection of every single wheel before it leaves our warehouse, adequately package every item with extra protection and packaging material, double box every wheel, and ensure that every order is checked for accuracy. The processing time will be in addition to the normal delivery time from the carrier (i.e. FedEx, USPS, etc.). Tracking will be provided once your order has been fully inspected and prepared for shipping. We do not generate tracking numbers in advance, as that usually only serves to fuel confusion as to when the package was actually shipped. For example, many of us have received tracking numbers that only state “label created” or something similar, and then aren’t updated for days. While it’s great to have a tracking number right away, we prefer to generate tracking upon shipment, and not upon receipt of the customer’s order, so that once you receive tracking information you know that your order is on the way and not in limbo.
We cannot reduce this processing and handling time without potentially reducing the quality that we’ve become known for. Simply put, we take our time inspecting and preparing every order, and it would require “cutting corners” to expedite processing and handling. FN Wheels doesn’t just receive a delivery from our manufacturer and “assume” that the factory QA/QC was sufficient and performed to our standards.
Virtually all wheel brands in the world (and particularly the United States) source their products from a private label manufacturer in Asia. Quality and price vary widely from private label manufactures and even within the same manufacturer based on the requirements of the customer (the brand). Typical wheel industry standards for wheel brands in the U.S. are to receive wheels from their factory overseas, and then ship them directly to the end user or tire installer exactly as received from the factory without ever double checking the product. Even the best factories sometimes make mistakes or overlook QA/QC standards, and many brands are not using the “best” factories in Asia.
We source our wheels from a small group of premium manufacturers with whom we’ve worked with for over 15 years. Prior to formalizing relationships with our manufacturers we spent years assessing quality from different brand names and factories that we sold in our retail store, including ultra high end Japanese and European brands. Our suppliers know our standards very well, and we selected them because they are able to build to our high standards. With that said, the FN Wheels standards can only be FN Wheels’ standards if FN Wheels is performing the final quality control on every item before it leaves our warehouse here in the U.S. We are definitely anomalous within our industry (and frankly most industries) insofar as individually inspecting every single product before shipping to our customers. It is extremely time and resource consuming to do this, however we aren’t willing to disappoint our customers or damage our 20+ year reputation by cutting corners in our process. We just need a little more time than usual to process orders right now because of the higher volume of orders and the delays that some of our vendors are experiencing.

It is our intention to continue to offer the best service that we can, the best FN Wheels possible, and the most reasonable price to quality ratio that we can provide to all of our customers.

Thank you all for your continued patronage and support. Over the last year we have not reduced our work or shipping schedule, and in fact we have extended our hours of operation to meet the demands of our customers. We value every single one of our customers, and we wouldn’t be here without you all. We’ve also not compromised our quality control, standards or integrity in any shape or form.
With that said, the continued persistence of delays from our ancillary vendors, particularly shipping and freight companies, with regard to their reduction in service guarantees as a result of procedural changes due to government or corporate mandates, winter storms / the deep freeze in Texas, supply shortages or other reasons, has now resulted in shipping delays that our outside of our control.
The purpose of this update is to inform all of our customers that we will continue to work as hard as possible to reduce the impact of these delays, even if it continues to require long hours and a 7 day work schedule, but we ask very respectfully that our customers please be patient and expect shipping delays as the situation is now outside of our control. As much as we’d like to be in full control of every aspect of our business, we are not a freight/shipping company, and at times like this we are the mercy of FedEx, UPS, USPS and the various trucking companies that we contract to make our deliveries and to deliver to us.
